Kiwis are taking holidays overseas in ever increasing numbers and to new destinations as what's been described as the "golden age of travel". The Herald obtained outbound holiday data from Stats NZ and compiled the numbers into an interactive visualization that highlights travel patterns and trends over the years. The visualization allows the user to easily compare the regions and countries. It also allows the user to drill down into the data and see individual datapoints.

I was responsible for the design and build of the interactive. React and D3 were used to handle the data and construct each chart component. Sass was used for styling.
